Hey, guys... just a quick update here of the first day of practice in Caloundra. First time ever in their life to swim 10,200 meters with two workouts (equal to 11,154.86 yards) + weight room in the morning!!! Everyone was pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and giving their best. Standing on deck and looking at them, I just felt so proud of each one of them. Way to go, Sun-shine! Tomorrow they get to sleep in and return to the pool for the afternoon practice/dryland.
Well, I am the first one to see snake and kangaroos today. When we were driving on the highway heading back to the pool, I saw one snake (colorful pattern on the skin) laying on the road side. Scary and lucky I was in a moving car!!! Then I spotted whole bunch of kangaroos on an open field near the highway.
I forgot to mention earlier that the kids have been learning some Aussie English here and there. Singlet means tank top; Mate surely means friend/buddy/dude/etc; Tilie? means TV; Boot means the trunk of a car; and Bubler means drinking fountain. Lots more to learn along the way...
Enough for now and I have no picture updates. Should have some tomorrow. If you can, please also check the kids' FB updates because they are constantly on it every day to update with pictures from their cameras. So far we are having a great time, even though the first day of training really hit them hard. Tomorrow morning the kids will hang out with their host families and afternoon is a hard race-pace session (shhh, don't tell them yet). I think they will all sleep well tonight and I bet none of them will wake up before 9 am tomorrow morning. Sending our greetings to all of you, and talk to you later.
